Sprig the squirrel was in the garden. He had a big plan for the day. He wanted to do some work.

His work was to find the best nuts in the whole world. Sprig thought his work was very important. He looked down at the ground.

He saw a little worm. "Hi, worm!" said Sprig.

The worm gave a little squirm and went on its way. Sprig looked toward a large flower pot. He thought that would be a good place to start.

He went forward to the pot. He began to dig in the dirt. He worked and worked.

He found nothing but dirt and little rocks. "This is the worst place," Sprig said with a huff. He did not give up.

He looked at a patch of mossy ground. He could see something poking out from the moss. He went over to the patch.

He worked to pull the thing out. It was a big, round nut! It was the best nut he had seen all day.

His hard work was worth it. Sprig was very happy with his reward. He had worked and won.
