Her coat was yellow. In the glow of the sun, her coat did not look just yellowish. It was a rich yellow.

Joan liked to roam in the grass. She would follow the road and look at the oak trees. She would look at the goats from a safe spot below.

On this day, a big shadow was in the grass. Joan said, “What is that?” The shadow was very big.

Joan did not like the shadow. She hid in a bowl by the roadside.

Then she looked up. It was a crow!

The crow sat on an oak branch. Its black coat glowed in the sun. “Go!” said Joan.

The crow did not go. It hopped lower and lower.

Joan had a plan. She would get a big coat to look big.

Joan ran to a rowboat by the road. In the rowboat was a big coat. It had not been owned for a long time.

Joan pulled and pulled. At last, she got the coat and got it on.

The coat was so big that it flowed behind her. Joan held herself tall.

She was by the oak tree and held the coat wide. The wind was blowing. Joan looked BIG!

The crow had one look and went away. It went over the road, over the goats, and over the oak trees.

At last, the crow was far away. Joan was thrilled. “I did it!” she said.
