The house was too quiet. Pip wanted to race.

He had a great idea. Pip looked at his friend, a little mouse.

The mouse was named Chester. "Chester," said Pip, "let's race!"

Chester the mouse looked up. "A race?" he said. "Pip, you are too fast."

Pip looked at the slices of cheese on a plate.

"The prize is cheese," said Pip with a grin.

Chester the mouse loved cheese. He accepted the challenge.

The race was on! Pip raced.

Chester raced. They circled the whole house.

They raced through halls. They raced past pans.

Pip was fast, but Chester was nimble. Chester took a shortcut through a little crack.

Chester got to the cheese first! "I win!" said Chester.

Pip the cat smiled. "Good race," Pip said, and they shared the cheese.

Chester was a selfless mouse. He loved to race with his friend.
