Mike looks at a book. The book has a nice white cat on it. Mike wants to read the book. He looks at one page. The words on the page are a mess to him. "This is no fun," Mike says. "I quit!"

His dad, Ross, comes in. "What is it, Mike?" Ross asks. "I can not read this page," Mike says. Ross sits by Mike. "I can give you some help," he says. Ross shows Mike the words. "Look," Ross says. "This is the word 'cat'." Mike looks at the page. He sees the cat. He sees the word. "Cat!" Mike says with a grin on his face. He can read one word. He does not quit.

Mike looks at a book. The book has a nice white cat on it.
