- Use dialogue when possible
- The story should have an interesting plot with a sequence of clearly connected events (do not end the story with "the end")

- There should be a clear problem and solution

Cal the elk was sad. "I have no buddies to join me," he said. Cal was hoping to have a good afternoon. He had so many snacks. He had some mints and some candies. He even had some berries. What a sad day for Cal the elk. All the snacks were for parties, but he had no one. Soon, some chipmunks stopped by. "Can we join you?" they said. Cal smiled a big smile. He had new buddies

"I have a lot of snacks, but no one to eat with," Tim said sadly.

He wished he could bring his snacks to some parties.

The new buddies filled their bellies with treats!
