Reading Horizons (2nd)

Pat the snow leopard sat in the tundra. The wind was harsh. Pat felt hunger. The hunger hurts. "What can I find?" Pat said.

Pat looked behind a big rock. There was nothing. Pat looked in the ice. There was nothing. Pat's hunger was getting worse. "This is the worst!" Pat said.

Then, Pat saw a friend. It was a stork. The stork had a big fish. "I have plenty," said the stork. "Do you want some?"

Pat said, "Yes!" The fish was the best. Pat's hunger was gone. Pat had a new friend.

Mark sat in the tundra. The wind was harsh.

His stomach burned, and he felt thirsty.


Mark went further and looked behind a big rock. There was nothing.

He looked at the ice and under a small arch of stone. Still nothing.

Mark's hunger was getting worse. "This is the worst!" Mark said.

Then Mark saw a bird perched on a rock. It had a big fish. 

The bird chirped and fluttered its wings. “I have plenty,” said the bird.


“Do you want some?” the bird asked. “Yes!” Mark said.

The fish tasted better than anything Mark had ever had! He was full.

Mark's hunger was gone, and he felt stronger. He got a fish and the best partner!
