It is the last day of class. The kids will have a big bash!

Lane goes to the den. She sits with a plate of eggs and takes a bite. Then, she gets in the car.

Dad gets in on his side. He goes to get the car on. The car makes a whine, then it stops.

"Drive, Dad!" says Lane. "I do not want to be late on the last day!"

"The car will not drive," says Dad. "I will have to take it to Mike at the shop so he can fix it."

Lane's smile fades. "I have to get to class!" she yells.

"You can walk," says Dad. "If I walk, I will be quite late!" Lane yells back.

Lane sits on the steps to think for a while. Then, she has a plan!

She goes in the shed and rolls back on a bike. "I can ride my bike to class!" she calls to Dad.

"I like this plan!" says Dad.

Dad and Lane ride a mile on their bikes.

Lane gets to class just in time!
