The Jolliest Swimmer

Julie the quokka was the jolliest swimmer in the sunny meadow. She loved the coolness of the water and the calm it brought her on warm days.

One very sunny afternoon, Julie splashed into the pond with a happy grin. The water felt cleaner than before, and the wind brought a freshness that made the moment even more enjoyable.

Suddenly, there was the loudest voice. “Look!” said Luther, her funny friend and a known joker. “A chubby frog!”

Julie turned to look.

A frog sat on the shore holding a tiny, pinkish flower. His eyes looked a little droopy, and he let out a small sigh.

“He looks grumpy,” said Julie. “Why do you think he is sad?” Luther scratched his fuzzy head. “I think he wants to swim, but he feels too shaky. Maybe he has had a muddy day.”

Julie’s eyes lit up with an idea. “Let’s help him!” She found the sturdiest leaf floating near the leafy edge of the pond. It looked workable, though a bit grimy. She gave it a good rinse to make it more suitable.

“This leaf is unsinkable now,” Julie said with kindness. “It should do the trick!” The frog gave a slippery hop closer, still feeling a little scared. “I’m not the bravest swimmer,” he whispered.

“But you might be the luckiest frog today,” said Luther with a wink. Feeling a little weary but hopeful, the frog stepped onto the leaf.

Julie gave a gentle push, and soon the frog was gliding across the pond. “Thank you,” said the frog. “I’m the happiest I have ever been on the water!” As the pond sparkled with brightness, they sat in peacefulness, watching the frog drift on his sturdy leaf.
