June the mule had a flute.  She loved to play tunes in June. One day, June met Jude. Jude had a cube. “Let’s use the cube to make a stage for your flute tunes,” Jude said.  June and Jude dragged the red cube to the dunes.  While June played her flute, the cube sank in the sand! “Oh no!” June said. The dunes had lots of soft sand.  Then Jude had a plan. He used tubes to prop up the cube.  June played a happy tune.  Jude said, “The rules are, you have to play a fun tune each June!”


Jude was resting. The tune rang out and woke him up.

"Dude, you woke me up! That is quite rude!" said Jude. 

June did not wish to be rude. "I will mute the tune," she said.

June left her flute on the dunes and went to tuck Jude back in bed.

"This is not cute!" yelled Jude. "The tune will not mute!" said June.

June dug a pit in the hot dunes and dumped the flute in the sand. Then, she strolled back to Jude.

So, June got a cube, stuffed the flute in it, and shut the lid. Then, she went back to Jude again.

Jude and June were sick of the tune. Each time Jude went to rest, the tune woke him up. 

"Grab your stuff," said June to Jude. He picked up his things and went with June. June led Jude on a long stroll. They passed the dunes and left the flute.

June led Jude to the dock. At the dock, Jude set up his bed.

Jude had a nap as the waves crashed and bumped the dock. June was glad they left the flute in the dunes!
