Danny sat at home.  It was a hot summer day in the city.  "I am so hot," he said.  He saw his friend Hayden playing in the driveway.  Hayden had a big jug of water.  He was spraying the driveway.  "What are you doing?" asked Danny.  "I am trying to stay cool," said Hayden. "The water helps."  Danny asked if he could help.  Hayden said, "Okay."  Danny and Hayden sprayed water on the hot driveway.  The water made the smog from the city go away.  The air felt cool.  Danny and Hayden were happy.  They played in the cool spray all day.  Hayden said, "Playing is more fun with a friend."  Danny smiled.  He was glad he had a friend.


It was a hot summer day on a Thursday.  Ismail sat at home feeling upset. 


"I am so hot," he said. His pal Jayden was by the steps, spraying water from a big jug.

"What are you doing?" asked Ismail as he stepped closer to the water. 

""I am trying to stay cool. The water helps," Jayden said. "Maybe we can go to the splash park.""

"That is a great thought!" Ismail said. Ismail went inside and got two prepaid transit cards from his mom. 

They ran until they got to the train platform. Ismail and Jayden waited with restraint. They could not wait to play in the water at the splash park.

At last, the train came to the platform. Ismail and Jayden hopped on the train. 

After some stops, they got to the city splash park. It was full of kids running and playing in the splash zone. 

Water sprayed like raindrops all over the park. Ismail and Jayden ran to the cool spray. 

“This is the best day!” said Ismail. “I like this more than staying at my hot home!” said Jayden.


Ismail felt hot on a sunny day. He and his friend Jayden found a way to stay cool. What fun will they find at the city park?
