Unit 5, Lessons 11-12 (/ə/ + /l/: ‘al’, ‘il’, ‘ul’)

- Use 3-10 words per sentence.
 - Generate 10-15 sentences
 - Vary sentence structure and composition through a 'show not tell' story style. 
 - Use dialogue and sensory details to support the 'show not tell' style.
 - Use mostly 1-syllable words
 - The story should have a cohesive flow with a problem and solution.

Min the hen was by the net.  She had some medals. Min was so joyful. She pedaled her bike.  Then she saw some corals by the road.  “Oh, no!” Min said. The path to the corals was all rocks!  Min was sad. She was no longer joyful.  She wanted to see the pretty corals.  What could she do?  Min had an idea.  She got off of her bike.  She would walk to the corals.  Min walked by all the rocks. She got to the corals. They were so pretty!  Some were pink. Some were white.  Min smiled.  She was joyful again.  She pedaled her bike back from the coastal road.


Last April, Min the hen won a race. She had some medals.

Then, she saw some corals by the road. “Oh, no!” Min said.

The path to the corals was filled with rocks! Min was sad. Her bike could not pass the rocks.

She was no longer joyful. She wanted to see the nice corals.

She got off of her bike. She would walk to the corals.

Min skipped past the rocks and got to the corals.

She was joyful again. She pedaled her bike back from the coastal road.
