Zane the hog went west.  He looked for a snack.  No food was there.  "Hi," said a small skunk.  "Go look by the pond!"  Zane went to go look.  He saw a fish.  "This will be my snack," he said.

"Go look by the pond!" Jo said. Zane trotted off to get some snacks.

He spotted a fish. "This will be my snack," he said.

"Help me!" Zane yelled, splashing in the pond. Jo the skunk dashed to the pond.

In a big rush, Jo dipped a big stick in the pond.

Zane grabbed the stick and held on. Jo pulled, huffing and puffing.

Zane panted. Then, with a big grin, he asked Jo, "Will you be my friend?"
