"Hi," said a small skunk. His name was Jo.

"Go look by the pond!" Jo said. Zane trotted off to get some snacks.

He spotted a fish. "This will be my snack," he said.

Zane jumped in the pond.

"No!" he yelled. Zane was sinking!

"Help me!" Zane yelled, splashing in the pond. Jo the skunk dashed to the pond.

In a big rush, Jo dipped a big stick in the pond.

Zane grabbed the stick and held on. Jo pulled, huffing and puffing.

At last, Zane was safe. Jo grinned.

Zane panted. Then, with a big grin, he asked Jo, "Will you be my friend?"

Jo nodded with a big, "Yes!".
