Joe's Day at Lake Conroe

Joe woke up with a grin. He packed his bag with snacks, a hat, and his swim trunks. Joe and his dad were all set to go to Lake Conroe to have some fun in the sun.

They got in the truck and drove on a long road. At last, they got to the lake.

Dad got the boat from the truck and sent the boat into the lake.

"Hop in, Joe!" Dad called. Joe jumped into the boat, and they set off on the lake. The boat slid on top of the waves. Joe soaked his toes in the lake.

"Let us fish!" Joe said. He got his fishing pole and set the bait in. "I hope I get a big fish!" he said.

Tug! The pole bent. Joe held on to the pole. "I got one!" he yelled. Dad helped him reel in the fish. It was big. "Whoa! It is a big bass fish!" Joe said with a grin.

Then, Joe yanked off his hat and jumped into the lake. Splash! The chill of the lake felt nice. He got on his back to float and then swam and kicked. "This is fun!" he said.

In time, a thick mist crept in. The wind picked up and made the boat rock.

"Whoa, we have to go back," Dad said. Joe did not moan or groan. He got back in the boat. Big waves crashed as they sped on the lake. Joe held on. "Go fast, Dad!" he yelled.

At last, they made it back. The rain fell just as they got to the dock. "That was close!" Joe said. Dad gave a grin, "A bit of rain will not mess up the day."

Joe sat and ate oat toast, a snack that he had packed. A toad got close to Joe and gave a croak.

As Joe and his dad packed the truck to go back home, Joe gave a grin and said, "That was the best day!"
