Melissa in the Jungle

Early in the morning, Melissa the macaw woke up with a thought.

She felt chilly and thought, "I ought to find breakfast."

She flew from her perch and began her search for food.

Her eyes were sharp, scanning the jungle below as she flew.

Melissa spotted a doughnut someone left on a picnic table.

She swooped down and grabbed it, although it was bigger than her normal breakfast.

She thought, "This will keep me full for the rest of the day."

Satisfied, she brought it back to her perch to enjoy.

As Melissa ate, she saw something shiny in a nearby tree.

At first, she thought it was glass but it was actually a mirror.

She thought it was funny to see her reflection and she chuckled.

Feeling playful, Melissa pecked at the mirror, making it swing back and forth.

Melissa was thoughtful as she looked at her reflection.

She thought, "I am quite a pretty macaw."

Satisfied with her day, Melissa went to take a nap.

She curled up on her branch, the jungle quiet around her.

Suddenly, Melissa was woken up by loud sounds.

It was a group of monkeys who thought it was fun to make loud sounds.

Feeling grouchy, Melissa thought, "I ought to find a quieter place to rest."

She flew off in search of a quieter place to rest.

Melissa sought a quiet spot by a small pond.

She thought, "This place is perfect for a nap."

Melissa curled up once again and drifted off to sleep.

Her day ended with sweet dreams under the stars.
