He slowly picked it up and smiled, feeling safer with the jewel in his grasp.

But soon, the sparkle that the jewel had began to fade.

Otis felt uneasy. Had he done something wrong?

He wiped the jewel with a leaf, but it did not help.


He bathed it in cool water, hoping to get back its shine.

As the jewel dried in the sun, something amazing happened. It shined brighter than before!

Otis felt satisfied. He had not only found a jewel, he had saved it. 


"I am not just an explorer," he said proudly. "I am also a jewel rescuer!"



Suddenly, there was heard a sound. A sneaky raccoon had spied the jewel and was creeping closer.

Otis stood tall and braved the moment. With a loud hoot, he chased the raccoon away.

The raccoon escaped, but not without a little fright!

Otis returned the jewel to its hiding spot and taped a leaf over it. He wanted to let more animals enjoy the jewel too. 

Otis smiled. He continued to explore, feeling freer, wiser, and ready for whatever adventure came next.
