Amari's Selfless Act of Kindness
Brenda the lion moved through the junkyard. The wooden beams creaked under her but her paws moved silently.
She was restless, her stomach was growling from the endless search for food. The hunger she felt was painful and made her feel hopeless.
"This is pointless," she thought, nudging an old kettle with her nose. A sound echoed in the stillness of the jungle, but then a soft breeze blew carrying a smell that made her mouth water.
Brenda's ears perked up and she followed the smell to a small creek where a boy in colorful clothing was fishing, singing a tune.
Brenda got down low, her legs tense, ready to pounce. But something about the boy made her pause.
His cheerful smile and the song he sang was peaceful and made her feel calm. She remembered the useless hunts from the past few days and sighed.
"I don't want to scare him," she thought, feeling fearless. She approached him slowly. The boy turned around, his eyes wide, but without fear.
"Hello lion," he said calmly. "Are you hungry?" he held out a fish, the silver scales shone brightly in the sun. Brenda was speechless. No one had ever shown her such selfless kindness.
She smelled the fish and then looked a the boy. He smiled warmly and patted her head, "You don't have to be helpless anymore. We can share," he said.
Over the next few days, Brenda and the boy named Amari became friends. Amari was always cheerful and helpful. He showed her where to find food and water.
Brenda felt grateful and hopeful for the first time in a long while. Her nights were no longer sleepless and she no longer had to worry about not finding food. She felt peaceful for the first time in a while.
Over the years, Brenda was thankful to Amari for his friendship and for ending her painful hunger pains. She was no longer restless or hopeless. Over time, with Amari's help, Brenda became skillful at catching fish.
Brenda finally found her place, in the heart of a cheerful, selfless boy who saw her as a friend.
