The Ice Block
Holly the narwhal lived in the icy waters of the arctic sea. She had a long, twisted tusk that shown brightly under the sun.
Holly loved to swim with her friends and play in the waves. Every day, she loved to leap high above the water, splash down, and then create bubbles in the water.
One day, after a storm, Holly noticed something strange. The sea was not as clear as it used to be and there was a thick layer of ice that blocked her path.
She tried to swim around it but the ice was everywhere. Holly felt afraid. "What if I cannot find food?" she thought.
Holly swam quickly to find her friend, Sunil the seal. "Sunil, the ice is too thick! I can't find my way around it," Holly said loudly.
Sunil nodded and said calmly, "Let's go talk to the wise old walrus, Wally. He might know what to do."
Together they swam to Wally who was resting on a large chunk of ice. Holly called, "Wally! The ice is too thick, we can't find our way. What should we do?" asked Holly firmly.
Wally opened his eyes slowly and looked at Holly and Sunil. "You must be brave and think clearly," he said kindly but directly. "Sometimes the ice can be a tricky problem but generally with a bit of teamwork, you can solve any problem."
Holly felt a bit better after hearing Wally's words. Holly and Sunil thought that it would be best to get more some more help. They gathered their friends, Drew the puffin, Gail the turtle, and Leroy the sea gull. They politely asked for their help and together they came up with a plan.
We need to break and move the chunks of ice," Sunil suggested. "If we work together, we can clear a path.
Everyone agreed. They swam to the edge of the thick ice. Holly boldly used her strong tusk to crack the ice while Sunil and Gail pushed the broken bits aside.
Drew flew back and forth to guide them. It was hard work but they did not give up. The group worked safely and carefully not to hurt each other and swiftly to break the ice. The sun began to set and the sky turned orange and pink. Finally, with a loud crack, the ice broke apart and floated away.
"We did it!" Holly cheered. She felt a wave of relief wash over her. "You were all so brave. Thank you so much for your help! I could not have done it without all of your help," she smiled brightly.
Holly was able to swim happily with her friends knowing that no problem was too big when they worked together. The group had worked boldly and made the sea lovely again. They played in the waves, leaped high into the air, and enjoyed their arctic home, feeling proud.
